This app features comprehensive monolingual (Dzongkha) and bilingual (Dzongkha-English and English-Dzongkha) dictionaries provided by the Dzongkha Development Commission. It offers users a streamlined, digital alternative to traditional, cumbersome printed dictionaries, ensuring that vital linguistic resources are readily accessible.

The Dzongkha Development Commission, the foremost institution dedicated to the development and promotion of Dzongkha—the National Language of Bhutan—has crafted this app in alignment with its mission. The commission’s vision is to establish Dzongkha as the primary medium of communication for all Bhutanese citizens, thereby fostering social harmony and stability within the country.

As technology advances, Bhutan strives to create an ICT-enabled society. Promoting Dzongkha via information and communication technology is a priority for the commission. Given the rising smartphone usage and mobile phone penetration in Bhutan, leveraging mobile technology for language promotion is deemed a highly effective strategy.

This versatile dictionary app allows for easy navigation of Dzongkha dictionaries curated by the commission, thus encouraging users to incorporate Dzongkha into their daily communications. Notably, aside from installation, the app does not require an internet connection for usage.

Users can conduct searches in both English and Dzongkha, resulting in an immediate display of relevant parts of speech and meanings. To effectively search in Dzongkha, a compatible multilingual keyboard must be installed.

Developed through collaboration between the Dzongkha Development Commission and the G2C Office under the Prime Minister's Office of Bhutan, this app embodies a commitment to enhancing public service delivery.
